Words from Kaitlin Veleski, granddaughter of Margaret:

My grandma was light.

She was love.

She was wise advice and a gentle hug.

A warm cup of tea and an Anzac biscuit.

She was a reassuring phone call.

A subtle hand hold.

A home made birthday card with a cut out photo and a poem.

My grandma was faith.

She was Christmas morning church service.

Pancakes on shrove Tuesday.

She was grace and gentleness.

A beautiful blouse and a pink floral scarf.

A text message to say  “I saw these flowers and thought of you!”

And she was the kindest soul l’ve ever known.

Just three days before she passed, I asked her how she was.

“OK Kaity, people are making sure I’m comfortable and bringing me cups of tea-how could I not be happy?”

That was Grandma.

Grounded in gratitude.

Overflowing with compassion.

She was a core figure in my life. And now she’s gone.

And life will never be the same again
