MORE THAN HALFWAY TO SOMEWHERE, by former ICA staffer John Burbidge, may look like a collection of travelers’ tales, but probe a little deeper and you could be surprised by what you find. As one reader noted, it’s “a captivating blend of memoir, history, geography and human connections that whisks you away from the predictable toward rich encounters with the other.”
Using the book to launch a discussion, ICA-USA board member Nancy Trask will host this event, which will include:
-
John reading extracts from his stories, with questions and answers
-
participants sharing their cross-cultural experiences, and
-
a discussion on how our lives have been changed by living and working in other cultures.
Participants are urged to read the book beforehand. Print and e-book editions are available from Amazon, Apple and numerous other retailers worldwide. For details, visit the book page on John’s website www.wordswallah.com.
The event is scheduled for July 22nd at 14:00 GMT/UTC, and is geared particularly to people in Africa, Europe and Asian times zones. Please check for local times.
