Over the last 30+ years, Global Facilitators Serving Communities has delivered the Crisis > Change >Choice workshop in communities all over the world. This workshop focuses on understanding how people naturally respond to crises and what they can do effectively when feeling anxious and overwhelmed. Participants will also learn/practice how to guide groups to constructively move through crisis, identifying personal as well as community strengths and building resilience in stressful times.

Who Should Attend?

This interactive workshop is designed for people who want to help their communities become more resilient and self-reliant as they navigate through difficult situations.

Workshop Modules

1: What Has Been Your Experience These Past Two Years:  Participants share their own stories describing their initial experiences and learn about the Crisis > Change > Choice model.

2: How We Cope with Crisis Over Time:  Building upon these stories, participants look more closely at how people are affected by crisis—what happens to us and within us. Recognize and understand individual coping strategies and behaviors while moving through the stages of recovery. Learn how to guide these conversations and create a safe environment for sharing.

3: Building Personal and Community Resilience:  What is human resilience? Appreciate crisis as a personal/social/community experience. Adapt appropriate leadership styles and conversational approaches to different situations, cultures, and specific community needs. Apply insights based on the Crisis > Change > Choice model.

4: Working with Groups Experiencing Crisis:  Develop a plan for your group including assessing group cultural norms, defining the goals of these community conversations, identifying and building partnerships with community resources, and assessing appropriate leadership approaches.

Note: Each module is approximately 2 hours. Modules 1 & 2 are scheduled on Monday with a 2-hour break between modules. Module 3 is on Wednesday and Module 4 on Thursday. To pre-register for our next scheduled workshop, 10, 12, 13 October 2022, or if you have any questions, please write to us at info@globalfacilitators.org.
