Beverly Salmon

July 19, 1935 – June 16, 2018

Beverly Gene Salmon, 82, was born July 19, 1935 in Salina, the daughter of Warren and Helen (Parker) Trapp. She was a music educator; substitute teacher; served in several Kansas churches; and worked in the Ecumenical Institute/Institute of Cultural Affairs, which took her around the world. She graduated from Salina Central and then from Kansas Wesleyan University with a Music Education degree. She was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she was a member of the church choir, bell choir, and UMW. Bev loved music! The harp society was a special joy for her as well as the Salina Civic Choral. Volunteering at the hospital was another priority for her.

On June 3, 1956 Beverly married William E. Salmon in Salina’s First Christian Church. Beverly is preceded in death by a son, Wesley Salmon (’83). Other survivors include two daughters, Jana (Mike) Lamb (Macksville), and Julie (Shannon) Gregg (Great Bend), and 5 grandsons: Matthew Lamb (Pittsburg), Keith Lamb (Macksville), Ben Gregg (Great Bend), Zach Gregg (Langley AFB), and Alex Gregg (Great Bend). One sister also survives, Colleen Jane (Kent) Hurlburt (Florida).

When Beverly and Bill were assigned to Vienna and she had to leave Training, Inc., she gave me the opportunity to step into her position there. This utterly changed my life in the most profound way and I am eternally grateful for that. She was an amazing, authentic, beautiful woman.

The Salmons were with us in 5^th City Religious House during the time of their son Wesley’s illness and death.  Bev taught with a team of us at the Oakbrook Training, Inc. and was a strong and dedicated presence to her students even in the pain of her own family’s journey.  Many of you have responded  on Jana Salmon Lamb’s page and Julie Salmon Gregg’s page.  Grace and Peace,
